After breakfast we leave Igoudmane towards Tinejdad, to take the exit to Erfoud. At Erfoud we have lunch (Maison Boutchrafine), after which we continue on the road to Merzouga, via Rissani. Rissani is the last city before the desert. The rock formations make way for sand plains with some bushes or palm trees, and here and there herds of sheep and dromedaries.

Another 35 km and we reach the Erg Chebbi desert. This is where we mount a dromedary to ride to our bivouac in the desert.

Sitting on a high dune you can see the sunset, a magical experience. The sand has soft slopes and hard lines. It is beautiful, the colors of shadows in the sand change by the minute – yellow changes to orange and orange turns pink. After dinner, you spend the night in a luxurious tent with a bed, private shower, toilet and towels.

The next morning you cannot miss the sunrise. Again a magical play of colors. After breakfast we ride the dromedary back to where we left the car. We drive to Rissani, where we have a nice cup of coffee, then on through Msissi, Alnif, Ammar, Tinejdad and back to Igoudmane.”
