‘Marokkoreizenmetandel’ is distinguished by its small scale and our personal approach. We also distinguish ourselves because we bring you in direct contact with residents in southern Morocco and their daily lives. We bring you to the people at home so you can see how they live.
Our homebase is Igoudmane, a small village which lies in the High Atlas in the south of Morocco at an elevation of 1500 meters (almost 5000 feet) and about 40 KM (25miles) north of Tinejdad.
The last few months we have been very busy with the preparation of two guest rooms in an old earthen house in Igoudmane, and they are now ready for guests (this was in november 2016). Each comfortable room has its own toilet and shower. The house stands on the land of Lhoussaine’s family. This allows you to see in a pleasant way how Berbers live, namely, Lhoussaine’s family, up close and personal. Our guest rooms are up to standards that you are used to.
In Igoudmane we have connection with the Internet. It is therefore possible, for example, to check your work email and to have contact with the home front.
Once you are in Igoudmane, you have stepped into a different world, and tend to forget all about the modern communications. Of course, you have come here to experience the culture and nature of southern Morocco.
Lhoussaine’s family lives on the same property in a new home. Every morning bread is baked for the day in a stone oven with wood fire. It will be possible to see how this is done and even try your hand at it. This bread will be part of your breakfast. Milk, butter and buttermilk are all from their own cow. You can eat your breakfast in your room, or on the roof top terrace, with its spectacular view of the surrounding mountains.
If you are in Marrakech, there are several possibilities to come to our B&B in Igoudmane. Look for the possibilities at the webpage ‘Rooms and Prices’.
The trip to Igoudmane, the destination and home base for further exploration, is an adventure in itself. The advantage of driving with us in our fine 4×4 is that we can stop whenever you want. There are many interesting stops and sights on the way. In order to see and experience the most, the trip is planned to take 2 days.
The house in Igoudmane will be the starting point for any excursions and day trips.
